Description

The purpose of the grant is to promote markets for Rubberized Asphalt Concrete (RAC) products with crumb rubber derived from only California-generated waste tires to resurface roads using RAC Hot-Mix or Chip Seal applications. The program is designed to encourage first-time users of rubberized pavement. Parking lots and alleys are eligible. However, it is not recommended for these applications due to the resilient nature of the material. An application may include rubberized pavement (hot-mix and chip seal) projects for roadways, Class 1 bikeways [as defined in Streets and Highways Code section 890.4(a)], greenways, and disability access at parks. A greenway is a travel corridor for pedestrians, bicycles, non-motorized vehicle transportation, recreation, or a combination thereof, located along natural landscape features, such as an urban watercourse.
