How E-Rate bidding works
Form 470 opens bidding
A school, library or consortium certifies an FCC Form 470 in USAC's E-Rate Productivity Center (EPC) to request bids on eligible services. The Form 470 for a funding year is generally available about a year before that year starts. If the applicant issues an RFP, it must be uploaded with the Form 470.
At least 28 days of bidding
The applicant must wait at least 28 days after certifying the Form 470 before choosing a provider, signing a contract or certifying its Form 471. That date is the allowable contract date, shown on each listing here: get your bid in before it.
Form 471 in the filing window
The applicant then files an FCC Form 471 to request discounts during USAC's annual application filing window, which opens about six months before the funding year and stays open for about two and a half months. For funding year 2026 it ran January 21 to April 1, 2026, so March 4, 2026 was the last day to certify a Form 470.
Funding year starts July 1
E-Rate funding years run from July 1 to June 30: funding year 2026 is July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Discounts range from 20% to 90% of the cost of eligible services.
